Just as I was putting the finishing touches on my latest Christmas design, I received an email from Cupcake Inspirations. I know it is a little strange to be working on Christmas during Easter week. I work ahead on my Christmas designs because the busiest time for the holiday sales in my Etsy Shop is July and August. I stock up now, so that when the weather warms up I can be outdoors enjoying the beautiful spring weather.
What are the chances that the exact colors that I am working with are the ones in this weeks challenge? I thought it was pretty cool, so for Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 256 I am submitting my Poppy and Chartreuse Chevron Merry Christmas Greeting Card. With this particular design, I wanted to keep it simple with a modern look. I began with a piece of green Christmas text designer paper from The Paper Studio and matted this with poppy embossed polka dot cardstock. The trim is orange satin ribbon. The base of the greeting card is Core’dinations chartreuse textured cardstock with an overlay of chartreuse and white mini chevron paper.
The interior of the card is lined in soft white smooth cardstock. Using a stamp from the Stampin’ Up Set, Many Merry Messages, I stamped the inside sentiment in ruby red ink. For an added little touch, I stamped a small Christmas tree, in celery ink, using my Stampin’ Up Holiday Blitz Set.
My finished card size is 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″
While surfing the internet, I came across a really sweet card challenge. For the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 255, all I have to do is design a card inspired by the cupcake.
The minute I saw the cupcake, I was reminded of my Frilly Pink Fandango Birthday Greeting Card, which I created a few months back for a friend’s birthday. A lovely, feminine greeting card featuring a pink crocheted flower accented with a sparkling pink rhinestone. The base of core’dinations fandango pink textured cardstock has been enhanced with dry embossed polka dots and edged with a scalloped design at the bottom. In the center, is a partial overlay of Anna Griffin designer series pink floral cardstock which has the scalloped design at both the top and bottom. It is trimmed with soft pink sheer ribbon and is attached to the card base with foam dimensionals.
For added contrast, the inside of the greeting card is lined with bright white cardstock. The inside verse Happy Birthday is hand stamped in regal rose ink.
Finished Size: 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2
Materials used: core’dinations fandango pink textured cardstock, Anna Griffin designer series pink floral cardstock, bright white cardstock, soft pink sheer ribbon, pink crocheted flower, pink rhinestone, regal rose ink, foam dimensionals, Martha Stewart scallop punch, cuttlebug embosser
Just received a supply of beautiful new cardstock in bright vibrant colors and designs. Couldn’t resist trying some out on this week’s Mojo Monday 340 Contest. The base is scattered straw textured cardstock from the Jim Holtz & Ranger Distress Collection. Both of the colorful overlays are Heidi Grace Designs Double-sided Cardstock in the harvest flower design. For the ribbon trim, I used some coordinating burgundy satin ribbon. The banner is made from vanilla smooth cardstock stamped in black with “Happy Birthday” from Stampin’ Up’s Baby Announcement Set. The flowers were made with my cricut. The flowers were all made with Core’dinations textured cardstock in coral, burnt orange and sunshine yellow. Using my cuttlebug, I embossed the flowers with a polka dot design. The flowers are all matted with gold foil cardstock and embellished with a metal brad. The large one is attached flat to the card, while the other two are mounted using foam dimensionals.
